“I go nuts for nuts, I dote on dates and will take the train into Manhattan for a cumquat. I actually hate puns, but I make an exception for Lifethyme Natural Market (410 Sixth Ave, It’s my all-natural, macrobiotic dream world. It offers both a juice and salad bar, a vegan bakery and anything a health-conscious and/or environmentalist queer would need. I love the fact that the salad bar prices go down by half after 9pm and that I have yet to get yelled at for ‘sampling’ right out of my little container before paying for it (Editors Note: nibble at your own risk!). It’s important to put something clean and healthy into your body. This is especially true if you’ve spent the night into the next morning doing the exact opposite. Lifethyme is conveniently located near the West Village, so if you get hungry after buying some water-based lube from a quiet man on Christopher Street, you know where to go!” —Joe Castle Baker, 23-year-old writer and performer residing in Park Slope.
